Request Proof Please Fix the Highlighted Error S to Continue

  • I'm having the error message even though i fill out all the questions that are required and on the review page doesn't display where to fix.

Sometimes let you submit the form even if the error message comes up. Sometime how many times fix the question it is asking to fix/fill, it doesn't let you submit.

Probably some of my condition logics contradict each other.

Can you pin point where the contradictions of my condition logic?

  • I cannot replicate the issue you reported. I successfully submitted your form and I was redirected to the Thank You page.

    1520578381ty.JPG

I have then cloned your form and I made several tests on my form but I was still not able to replicate the issue. Each time the form was successfully submitted.

Is your form embedded? If so, please provide us the web page URL so that we can test the form there.

If the form is not embedded but you can still replicate the issue, please provide us the steps how to fill the form to replicate it.

  • Thank you, BJoanna,

It's not exactly embedded. Using your "POP-UP" version.

Yes, it is hard to replicate the problems.  It's like "combing desert".  But it seems that happen when the "Yes/No" questions were answered, which will often take users to pointed questions. Such as "Are you legally eligible for employment in this country?*", 8th question.  And answered "No", then change their mind and go back to the question, and this time click on "Yes" to go forward. Then comes to the end, "Review & Submit".  It looks fine, so click on "Submit", and the error message comes up.  I tested on my Mac (Chrome), even though the error message comes up, it went through.  But when I tested on my PC with Chrome, it persists there is error, but neither I could locate missed questions nor any indications of where the problems.

I think it is conflict of my condition logics somewhere after the very question (8th).  Because once I lifted all "required" from the questions out, and tried the form went through with no problem.

I'm sorry there are still so broad area of questions to cover but that where I am now.

    Please help!

  • I checked your condition on "Are you legally eligible for employment in this country?"

It seems the condition is correct, and should not give out an error when the user changes his mind.

Tried your step but I can't seem to replicate the issue.

    Cleared your form cache.

Let us know if the issue still remains.

    Thank you.

  • Thank you, Richie_P!

When I tried to fill the form on my Mac, I could make it through and I could submit the form at the end giving me the error message though.

So somewhere I have my condition logic conflicts, I can't locate where yet.

On PC (windows), the users seem to have problem to submit the form sometimes.  The error messages persist not to let them submit, even though they said they fix the answers.

    Need help!!

  • I am using windows on my laptop, but I can still not replicate the issue. I cloned for form again and made several tests. Only once I saw the error message but the form was submitted successfully.

I checked your conditions and it is possible that one of the Unrequire conditions is triggering the error message. Can you please try to disable Unrequire conditions and test the form again. Please note that you do not have to Unrequire fields that are hidden with conditions logic. If the required field is hidden you should still be able to submit the form.

  • Thank you, BJoanna!

I lifted allUnrequire conditions out, and tried.  The result is the same, i still get the error message.

My colleague told me when she answered "Yes" on #16, "Do you have Work Experience?", and she half filled series of questions and come back to the #16, and answered "No", at the end she got the error message and whatever she does, she couldn't submit the form.

The last time that I faced the same kind of problems, asked question and one of your colleague told me to do:

I have just gone through your form and noted that you have setup conditions to hide required fields. This will cause the error since once the field is hidden and you have set it to required then the field is non filled causing the error.

Its always recommended to setup fields you need to Hide/Show using conditions as un-required or use conditional logic to set field as un-required once its hidden.

Below is a guide on how to set field to required or Un-required using conditional logic.

    https://www.jotform.com/help/367-How-to-Make-a-Field-Required-Based-on-User-s-Answer

Kindly do let us know if you need further assistance.

So I did add those conditions for "Unrequire".

Please tell me how to fix the problems.

  • I'm using also a windows on my laptop,I tried to replicate the issue by following your instructions but I can't seem to replicate it at my end.

Errors would be seen on my preview when I tried to submit my form.

You can also check the location of the error by selecting the box below and the red marks would be shown.

    Hope this information helps.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

  • Richie_P,

If I had non-filled questions, I know they will be in red to indicate.  But most of the time that I tried, at the end click on submit after I check throughly not have non-filled questions. But I still get the error message and strangely it let it submit anyways.

I will left all "require" restrictions off and see if I still get the error message.  I will let you know guys the results.

  • I still see a couple of UNREQUIRE conditions on your form. I too failed to reproduce this after running tests on a cloned copy of your form.

Kindly keep us posted should you find a way to reproduce this consistently. Once we know how to reproduce it, it will be easier to find the cause and apply a fix.

  • Hi there,

I cloned the problematic form and narrow down to the source of problem question.  It is "Currently Working 1*".  When you answered "Yes" and let you submit without the error message.  But when you answered "No", You have to answer those extra questions, "Date of Employed To 1*" and "Reason for leaving 1*".  Thing is no matter you answered those questions, at the end it will let you submit the form but it still gives you the error message.

Can you find what are causing this problems?

New form cloned & close down to the problematic area: https://form.jotform.com/80696475284167

  • I was able to reproduce the problem. Although the form submits, it still shows the error message.

Based on my observation, it is the required config list widget that triggers the error. When it is shown and its value isn't changed, then you decide to switch to another answer that hides it, it still asks a value when you submit the form.

Try the following, this might fix it.

    1. Go to Settings

    2. Form Settings

    3. Set Clear Hidden Field Values to "Clear On Being Hidden" like the following.

Let us know how this goes. Thanks

  • Hi EltonCris,

I've tried what you suggested.  The resulted the same way. When I choose "No" on the "Currently Working 1*", at the end I still get the error message.

  • I chose "NO" on the "Currently Working 1*" but I did not see any error.
I have tried on Mac OS/Chrome and Windows/Chrome.

    15208543742018-03-12 12_30_24.gif

The issue seems to happen if you click Yes (this will show the required field) and then change the answer to that question to No (this will hide the required field).

The form validation does not work correctly (it does not remove the warning) if a required field is shown and then hidden.

I was able to replicate the issue in this simple demo.

    This looks like a bug.
Let me forward it to our developers and we will let you know when there is an update on this.

  • Adrian,

Yes, please get back to me as soon as possible. it is publicized already.

    Nari

  • The issue has been forwarded to our developers and it is flagged as important.

We will let you know via this thread if we have any updates.

    Thank you.

  • Hello,

We are really sorry for the inconvenience caused.

The problem should be fixed now. Please check it and let me know if you need anything further.

    Thank you!

  •  Hi, there,

I tested it, and the problems are still there.  Now neither I can submit at all nor can fix the questions that I missed, because the review doesn't show the problematic questions.

This is a clone of one of the forms.

    Best,

    Nari

  • Hello Nari - The fix should apply to all forms. Kindly try the first form you reported to us and see if works or not. If the other forms you listed are indeed exhibiting the same behavior when you reported this to us, then those should be fixed as well.

If not, kindly let us know which form is still not working so we can have a closer look.

  • I just realized we both replied to the thread simultaneously. We'll check the cloned form on your last reply and get back to you shortly.

  • Yeh, Jim_R,

When you go back and forth with the problematic questions (Yes/No)-Question #21, 36 and maybe 54.  When have choices and once going the other way and come back again and answer otherwise. Then get the error message.

    Nari

  • I tried it on the cloned version of your form following the provided steps, I could not reproduce the problem. The form submits without any error.

I cleared your form cache once again, could you please try it again on your end? The update applies to all the forms so it should work for your other forms, not unless there's another issue.

Please let us know if the problem persists. Thanks

  • Hi,

I cleared form cache and tried the form again and failed. And I saw the your submitted test answers. You have to answer #16, "Yes", and answer #21 to recreate the problem.  It seems let you go if you answer "No" and answer questions. But if you go back and forth the "Yes/No" questions on #21 and go with "Yes" answer, at the end you'll get error message.

    Best,

    Nari

  • I followed your steps and I replicated the issue. There was an error but the review before submit widget did not capture it and I was able to submit the form.

I tested the form again and I think, the error was when I filled up some fields, I was using numbers instead of letters that may have triggered the error.

Can you please try your form again, and follow the required inputs of each fields.

Let us know how it goes.

  • Hi

Still get the message and can't submit it. When you answer #21 question, "No" first and go back to #21 and answer, this time "Yes", and go on.  Same to Question #36. I think either one causing problems.

Go back to those very questions and answer "No" and fill required question, resolve it and let me submit it.

    Best,

    Nari

  • I am still having a hard time reproducing the error in the cloned version of your form following the same steps you've mentioned. I also tried simplifying the form but I still couldn't reproduce it. I will ask my colleague who was able to reproduce the problem. We'll get back to you with more information. Thanks

  • I have checked your form and I was able to reproduce the issue with not being able to submit the form.

The problem is that you have REQUIRED fields that are shown/hidden depending on user's answer.

For example, these fields are shown if the answer to Question 7 is Yes.

    1521040255show.png

When the fields are hidden (Question 7 is No), make sure they are set to UNREQUIRED. (Add the following condition to your form)1521040138111.png

Do the same for every field that is required and shown conditionally.
Make sure to set it to UNREQUIRED when it is HIDDEN.

Another approach that I would suggest is to make the fields UNREQUIRED by default and only make them REQUIRED when they are SHOWN. (The conditions would be the same for showing the fields and requiring them which is a bit more simple)

  • Hi There,

Thank you for all your efforts to solve the problems.

I think the main problem that I had, which is getting the error message and won't let submit, was solved with the last Adrian's post.

But a new issue came up.

    @#12 question:Working Schedule
Answers: Open (Any Time / Any Day) & Other
"Other" will pull up time "Configurable List" widget.(Days/hours available to work)
    Problem:
Even though choose "Open (Any Time / Any Day)" (supposed to set "Days/hours available to work" to be UNREQUIRED), in the submission e-mail comes with "Other" answer, such as attached image below:

    1521123331Screen-Shot-2018-03-15-at-6.37

We need one of the answers, not BOTH.

I set conditions toUNREQUIRED and even try DISABLE. The result is the same.

#24 & #39 questions are similar questions. Is there anything that I can do?
